CORAL SPRINGS, FL – It’s official: Florida is now the third state to report more than 1 million Covid-19 cases.
The state added 8,847 new cases on Tuesday, bringing the total to 1,008,166 cases and 18,679 deaths, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Other states with more than 1 million cases are Texas and California.
The milestone came a day after Gov. Ron DeSantis promised to keep schools open for in-person instruction during the spring semesters. He also pledged not to allow any more shutdowns and declined to issue a state mandate to wear masks.
In other news, in Miami-Dade County, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has announced that she has tested positive for Covid-19 and has experienced mild symptoms.

Cases: 108,325 (+801)
Deaths: 1,664 (0)
Monday’s positivity: 7.11%
Florida
Cases: 1,008,166 (+8,847)
Deaths: 18,679 (+82)
Monday’s positivity rate: 8.69%
