Kathleen Miller Prunty, Cranford’s Business and Economic Development Director was honored at the recent 25th Annual Mayors Dinner of the Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce held earlier this month. Collectively the crowd of 350 celebrated the accomplishments of each community and honored the year’s brightest stars.

Ms. Prunty received the Economic Development Director of the Year award for work attracting business and investment to Cranford. Accepting the award, Ms. Prunty noted that her office values every investment whether it is a new $40 million project or a $4,000 renovation by an existing business. “Collectively, these investments all signal a confidence in Cranford as an outstanding place to locate a business, shop and live,” she said.

During her tenure with the Township, Ms. Prunty has been a driving force behind several development projects, major investments, planning projects and grants, business recruitment and retention resulting in Cranford’s low vacancy rate of 2%. In addition, Ms. Prunty plays an active role in the Raritan Valley Rail Coalition’s effort to gain direct train service to NYC on the Raritan Valley Line and the Tri-State Transportation Complete Streets Campaign for pedestrian-oriented improvements. Ms. Prunty recently finished a three-year term as President of Downtown NJ and still serves on the Board.
