Cub Scout Den 7 of Troop 363 Learns Online News and More on Sunday

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – Cub Scout Den 7 of Troop 363 visited The Alternative Press on Sunday to learn about online news and more.  After providing the scouts with information about the site, Michael Shapiro, New Providence resident and founder of, taught the scouts about objective news writing and how reporting on local news can be both informative and fun.  After learning about online news, the Cub Scouts colored, did word searches, and played “unwrap the newspaper” mystery prize game. 

Cub Scout Ben, age 6, said he did a word search about words in a newspaper. 

Cub Scout Gabriel, age 6, said, “My grandmother reads the newspaper all the time.”

Cub Scout Alexander added, “I love to be a cub scout.”

Cub Scout Den 7 meets approximately once per month, as does Troop 363, and work to earn badges, belt loops and beads. They recently completed a food drive to help the less fortunate. Ben and Cub Scout Anthony said, “The food drive was to help other people.” Cub Scout Shayne, age 6, added, “We love helping each other.”
