SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The stage at the Immaculate Conception School will be transformed into a "whole new world" as the curtain is set to go up on a three performance run of Disney's "Aladdin Jr." on Friday, November 16 at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 17 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 18 at 2 p.m.
The family-friendly musical is based on the blockbuster, Academy Award winning film "Aladdin" that hit movie theaters in the early 90s. In 2014, the film was turned into a Broadway smash, earning a Tony nomination.
James Bruno is Aladdin and Meera James is Princess Jasmin in Immaculate's production. Megan Zaloom steps into the role of the fun-loving Genie while Emmanuel Owusu is featured as the evil Jafar. Immaculate's talented cast is comprised of 56 fourth through eighth graders. The entire cast and crew has been working hard singing, dancing, acting and getting the stage ready.
"Aladdin Jr." is directed by Eileen McGovern. Kristin Hill, Immaculate's music teacher, is the show's musical director.
"There have been moments in rehearsal where I feel so much joy in watching the students grow, sing and interact together that I could burst," Hill said. "Their talent and dedication will transport the audience for a magical evening in Agrabah."
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. Advance tickets can be purchased by telephoning the Immaculate Conception School office at 732-251-3090. Tickets will also be available at the door prior to each performance.
