Deadline for Fanwood Bulk Waste Disposal Is Tues, Sept. 2


FANWOOD, NJ -- Fanwood residents are reminded that the deadline for securing permits for the borough's annual bulk waste collection is Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The annual event, conducted by the borough's Department of Public Works, lets residents get rid of many items out of their basements and garages that are difficult to expose of during the year. Hazardous materials are not permitted. The 2014 permit fee is $65 for a one-time pickup not to exceed 750 pounds of material.

Here is a list of common items with approximate weights:

  • Air Conditioner, 100 lbs.
  • Door, 25 lbs.
  • Dresser, 170 lbs.
  • Drier, 150 lbs.
  • Gas barbeque grill, 70 lbs.
  • Mattress (queen), 60 lbs.
  • Rug (5 x 8), 50 lbs.
  • Sofa, 150 lbs.
  • Toilet & tank, 90 lbs.
