SPARTA, NJ-As of Friday, July 19, there have not been any nominating petitions turned in for candidates for the Sparta Board of Education or Sparta Township Council, according to the Sussex County Clerk’s office in Newton.
Petitions for candidates seeking a seat on the Sparta Board of Education are available on line. Completed petitions must be returned to the Sussex County Clerk’s office at 83 Spring St., Suite 304, Newton, by 4 p.m. on July 28. The petitions require signatures of ten registered Sparta voters.
Individuals seeking to become a candidate for election to Township Council have until 4 p.m. on Sept. 2. To turn in the nominating petitions. Petitions for Township Council are now available through the Municipal Clerk’s office. They need to be completed with 144 individual signatures of registered Sparta voters and returned to clerk Mary Coe’s office.
