MILLBURN, NJ - Democrat Tara Prupis edged out  Republican Jodi Rosenberg in a close race for Millburn Township Committee. According to the unofficial count, Prupis garnered 3,450 votes, 73 more than incumbent Deputy Mayor Rosenberg who had 3,377 votes.

The total count is based on reports from all 16 districts in Millburn. Official numbers will not be released until the Essex County Clerk counts mail-in and provisional ballots.

There were 1,667 mail-in ballots received by the clerk's office with Prupis taking 870 votes and Rosenberg receiving 602. At the time of reporting, 195 mail-in and 224 provisional ballots need to be counted.

Also remaining unknown are the number of ballots cast in District 8 (Deerfield area), where a voting machine was reported to have broken down sometime in the afternoon on Election Day. Millburn police escorted the ballots to the county clerk last night.

In the U.S. Senate race, incumbent Senator Bob Menendez was re-elected taking 1,470,379 votes. Bob Hugin had 1,210,986 votes.

Four-term Congressman Leonard Lance lost in a close race to challenger Tom Malinowski in the 7th Congressional District. Malinowski won 136,993 votes, Lance took 131,149 votes.
