Celebrate the arts in Summit, New Jersey at “Discover Summit Arts” during a week-long festival June 23 – 29, 2013 featuring art, music, theatre, film, live entertainment, culinary arts, and other activities. Kicking off the first day is the Fine Arts and Crafts Fair, followed by public art walks, live art demonstrations, artwork by local artists, art exhibitions and lectures, the Minuetto Music Festival, dance, creative art therapies & healing arts, photography, and local theater performances & international films, and evening art receptions.
Local restaurants and caterers are encouraged to participate in our ‘Culinary Arts Day’ to display a tasting of their
specialty foods to promote local businesses along-side top Celebrity Chefs from New Jersey who will feature food tastings as a delicious form of culinary art at Historic Twin Maples and MONDO Summit.
“The cultural scene is rich in both visual and performing arts and downtown offers numerous opportunities for shopping, dining and entertainment. We welcome those from town and neighboring areas to visit us, and to become a sponsor of this year’s program”, states Summit’s Mayor Ellen Dickson.
The festival was the inspiration of Lyle Brehm and Janet Whitman, both Summit residents and art enthusiasts and cofounders for this community event, combining arts, culture and business in a way to feature Summit as a destination for the arts in a week-long program of festivities. People from the Tri-State area will be attracted by the high-quality art, the chance to meet local artists, sample food, and enjoy work in a variety of media.
Program management is being led by Jean Criss of Jean Criss Media for sponsorship sales, marketing, media including PR, print, online, social media, and local cable TV the week of the event; events are being coordinated by Laura Ekstrand of Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre. Jean can be reached at info@JeanCrissMedia.com or 908.247.8443, and Laura at Laura@Dreamcatcherrep.org or 908.514.9654 for further program information.
Tickets to all events will be on sale this spring by participating local merchants. The festival will be promoted by Downtown Summit, Inc., Suburban Chamber of Commerce, Summit, New Jersey, and various other media outlets.
