Doctors Express Holds Ribbon Cutting in West Orange

March 14, 2014 at 11:22 PM

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Community leaders gathered at the new Doctors Express Urgent Care Center located at 464 Eagle Rock Avenue on March 13 to celebrate the opening of the new West Orange Facility.

Council President Susan McCartney read a township Proclamation naming March 31 as "Doctors Express Day" in West Orange. West Orange Chamber of Commerce President Paul Petigrow welcomed the new team of board-certified physicians, nurses, and assistants into the West Orange community as the ceremonial ribbon was cut.

All are invited to a Community Open House on March 15 from 12:00-4:00 p.m., where they can tour the facility, meet Albert Saad, CEO of Doctors Express; Dr. Avery Browne, Medical Director, who also has extensive experience in sports injuries; as well as the rest of the staff.

Entertainment will be provided by members of Youth Orchestras of Essex County; free blood pressure screenings will be available; and giveaways including a three-month membership to Retro Fitness gym, a Whole Foods Gift Card, and gift baskets, will be raffled off.

The facility will be open for business beginning March 17 at 8:00 a.m. The office will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday-Friday and 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A Doctors Express office also launched in South Plainfield two months ago.

Doctors Express Urgent Care is a medical facility designed to treat episodic illnesses and injuries. It features a full body x-ray machine, on-site labs, and prescription medicine dispensation. No appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome. According to the staff, wait time is minimal compared to an emergency room visit that could cost a copay of hundreds of dollars. The cost for a visit to Doctors Express equates to a specialist copay on an individual's insurance plan.

For community members that cannot get an appointment with their regular physician, or do not have a regular physician, Doctors Express offers an inexpensive solution. Any x-rays or lab work, as well as the exam, are included in the copay that an individual will pay.

Doctors Express has over 70 centers nationwide including the new locations in South Plainfield and West Orange.

Getting a Handle on Thanksgiving

This year, on our National Day of Thanks, I would like to express my gratitude for having hands.

We typically don’t thank our body parts because they seldom leave us.  Most of us have not experienced unfortunate accidents or suffered the horrible consequences of war; tragic events  which might cause us to lose a limb.

Most of us take our fingers and hands and elbows ...

My Epic Beauty Fails

One day as I was looking around a high-end cosmetics store for a new lipstick, a “beauty expert” approached me and said that I was so stunning I should forget the lipstick, and get a lip plumper instead. At first I wondered why I needed a lip plumper if I was already so stunning. But then I thought, “Now here is someone wearing a badge that says, ‘beauty expert,’ so ...
