MADISON, NJ - While Madison High School's boys and girls lacrosse teams launched their seasons last week, and softball is set to go with a road game at Dover, the Dodgers' baseball opener remains on hold.
The weekend deluge that dumped several inches of rain on the borough has left Madison's varsity baseball field unplayable for now.
"We had some work done on the baseball field in the fall, so it is softer than we would like right now," said Madison Athletic Director Sean Dowling.
Madison was supposed to host Dover High School in its first baseball game Tuesday afternoon.
"We're still not ready," Dowling said. "We might be able to make it up by Friday. That's what we're hoping."
The athletic director added that the Madison High School junior varsity baseball field will need even more time to dry out than the varsity baseball diamond.
