Many of us have chosen Westfield as our home because of the excellent reputation of the public schools. The Westfield Parent Teacher Council (“PTC”) is an umbrella organization that works with the parent teacher organizations from all 10 Westfield public schools. Together with the school district, we strive to maximize the educational experience for our children. The generosity with which our community gives of its time and money is a testament to the high priority Westfield residents place on education.
Each year, our graduating seniors prepare to end the “Westfield High School” chapter of their educational story and begin the “College” chapter. Many of our students have worked exceptionally hard, not only academically, but also in extra-curricular activities, sports and the arts, earning high honors for Westfield. In addition, they have given endless hours of their time to volunteer in our community. They have also held part-time jobs to help their families and build a fund for college. Their efforts should foreshadow an amazing next chapter. Unfortunately, for some of these students, all of this is not enough to make college a reality.
The Westfield PTC awards a number of meaningful scholarships to these deserving students to help them continue the educational journey they started in the Westfield public schools. The PTC scholarship is funded entirely by donations; however, this year our collections are approximately 50% lower than previous years. Westfield residents’ commitment to education is clear and we are hopeful that some of those residents will choose to give to our scholarship fund so we can help these deserving students receive the education they have earned. Please send donations to Westfield PTC Scholarship Fund, 302 Elm Street, Westfield, NJ 07090 by April 15, 2014. Any amount will be graciously accepted. Please contact Amisha Mehta at email@example.com with any questions.
