Downtown Millburn Says Thank You

May 16, 2014 at 7:02 AM

Letter to the Editor:

Downtown Millburn’s Girls Night Out, held on Thursday May 8th, was a great success!  Every year, this event brings over 1,000 ladies to Millburn for an evening of shopping, dining and fun.  Our local merchants provided refreshments, discounts, giveaways and more.

New this year, were Cher and Joan Rivers impersonators who walked our Pink Carpet as well as the streets, welcoming all the ladies to this festive night.  DJs, photo booths, jazz bands, a psychic as well as pink and green balloons, dotted our town.

In our registration tent, we had several Grand Raffle prizes as well as Surprise Bags, with prizes generously donated by our wonderful downtown merchants.  New to the registration tent this year was a dunk-a-hunk tank!  Proceeds from the dunk tank and the Surprise bags benefited two of Millburn’s charities, Opportunity Project and Down The Block.

An event of this magnitude would not be possible without the support, talent and energy of many people. We would like to thank all the store owners for their participation. We are grateful for the fantastic job done by Sgt. David Bonney, the Millburn Police Department and Horace Gianbitista for handling the safety of the attendees, Tim Gordon and the Township Committee, and Rick from Time to Clean. A huge thank you to John Bace, John Walker and the Department of Public Works for the set up and clean-up of the staging areas. We would also like to Erica from Oh My Gifts for providing volunteers and young Nicky for volunteering for the 2nd year in a row. Thank you to Christine from Creative Works for providing our hunks.  None of this could have been done without all of you.

We would also like to thank our Sponsors: Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Investors Bank, Red Carpet Boutique, Wells Fargo, DCH Audi, Millburn PBA, The Salad House, First Class Fashions, Schultz Furrier, Jia Boutique, Curate, Gito, Charlie Brown's, Footnotes, NJ Mobile Chiro, Hudson Eye Physicians & Surgeons and Greenwood Gardens.

Downtown Millburn values your support and thanks you for all your help in this event!

My Epic Beauty Fails

One day as I was looking around a high-end cosmetics store for a new lipstick, a “beauty expert” approached me and said that I was so stunning I should forget the lipstick, and get a lip plumper instead. At first I wondered why I needed a lip plumper if I was already so stunning. But then I thought, “Now here is someone wearing a badge that says, ‘beauty expert,’ so ...
