To support Small Business Saturday — a promotion started by American Express that takes place annually the Saturday after Thanksgiving — the Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC) will be distributing a total of $5,000 in vouchers to spend at downtown merchants.
The first 250 customers that visit the DWC’s new holiday Downtown Welcome Center, located at 167 East Broad Street in the former Ann Taylor space, on Saturday, Nov. 28, starting at 10 a.m. will receive a Downtown Dollars voucher worth $20, which they can spend at any participating downtown Westfield business. A complete list of participating merchants will be provided along with each voucher.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide downtown Westfield customers with $20 vouchers towards a purchase at some of their favorite merchants,” said Bob Zuckerman, DWC executive director. “This holiday season is the most important ever, especially for our independent stores, as COVID has definitely taken its toll on the local economy. We’re hopeful that this promotion will really make Small Business Saturday in downtown Westfield the most successful one yet.”
The Downtown Dollars vouchers will be redeemable Saturday, Nov. 28, and Sunday, Nov. 29, at all participating merchants. Only one voucher will be distributed per family. The DWC will be reimbursing the merchants for the complete value of their redeemed vouchers, so the merchants will be made whole on their sales.
In addition to this Small Business Saturday promotion, the holiday Downtown Welcome Center will offer free gift wrapping for any presents purchased downtown from any merchant beginning this Friday and continuing every day through Christmas Eve. Hours for the Downtown Welcome Center are 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. seven days a week.
The Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC) is the management entity of the Special Improvement District. Began as Main Street Westfield in 1993, the organization is run by a staff of three, a volunteer board of directors, and various committees.
