WESTFIELD, NJ — Tickets for Downtown Westfield Corp.’s upcoming “Foodie Stroll” are selling out quickly with nearly half the spots filled up for the upcoming walk, when eateries will offer sample-sized dining and drinking options, the DWC’s executive director said.

The DWC is limiting participation in the Sunday, Oct. 4, event to 400 people to create social distancing and to ensure restaurants do not run out of food, something that happened during a local foodie stroll held over the summer, Bob Zuckerman, executive director of Downtown Westfield Corp., said.

Members of the public appear to be lining up (at least virtually) to sign up for the upcoming stroll.

“If they’re looking forward to going to fall foodie stroll, they should get their tickets now,” Zuckerman told TAPinto Westfield on Wednesday. “We’ve sold over 40% of our capacity in just over a day.”

The Oct. 4 event will feature delectable bites, specialty cocktails and desserts from downtown Westfield eateries, organizers said. To ensure social distancing, Zuckerman said, participants will be strolling and eating during two two-hour-long sessions: from noon to 4 p.m.

“This way all the people participating won’t be running into each other,” Zuckerman said. “It makes it easier for social distancing and it makes it easier for the restaurants.”

Participants are asked to pay cash for items, the average cost of which will be $5, organizers said. The registration fee is $5, proceeds from which will benefit the local branch of the nonprofit No Kid Hungry, feeding hungry children in Union County, organizers said. The DWC is partnering with Williams Sonoma Westfield in the effort.

Participants will pick up prepaid wristbands and maps on the day of the event in front of Williams Sonoma, 127 Central Ave., Westfield.

While tickets last, registration will be open for time slots, noon to 2 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m., to limit crowds.

Cash will be required at each restaurant to enhance transaction speed, organizers said. Masks are required while strolling. Tables will be provided to sit and eat.
