Mr. Rush is a local New Jersey native having painted here and abroad for over 50 years. His work, affectionately referred to at times, as "Dramatic Chromatic's" is a rarely seen art form that has its art history roots from the late 1800's into the early part of the 1900's. Actually, these paintings in oils and acrylics are properly called Chromatic Structuralism. Artist David Rush uses geometry and color for a dramatic impact giving his paintings movement and attitude. Their curious play on the eye brings the observer on an interesting voyage through multiple layers of color, depth, illusion and image that playfully confuse and perplex. Mr. Rush enjoys tickling the viewer's brain and stimulating imaginations with each new original Chromatic Structuralism painting. "The onlooker is left to interpret for themselves what they see or don't see" states Mr. Rush and adds, "I try to shock the ordinary into extraordinary by combining the elements of color and geometry."
Mr. Rush's work in Chromatic Structuralism can be seen at The Park Avenue Club, in the Hedley Room, located at 184 Park Avenue in Florham Park, N J 07932 beginning April 15 through September 7 and is sponsored by the Park Avenue Club Art Association. With its mission of on-going philanthropic work, the Art Association supports eleven different charities and cultural organizations through exhibits like Mr. Rush's. Upon being selected for this solo show at Park Avenue Club, Mr. Rush commented, "I get the benefit of sharing my paintings with the public while at the same time supporting the mission of the Club. It's a win-win situation for me." Mr. Rush's exhibit is free to the public, but please call first to be certain the Hedley Room is available the day you would like to visit as occasionally it is utilized for other matters.
