Driver in Head-On Crash Charged with DWI

CHATHAM, NJ - Marcia Salazar-Cerdas, 22, of Chatham Borough has been charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain a lane after an investiation of the March 2 accident on River Road in the township.

Officer Keith Johnson investigated a head-on motor vehicle accident in the 700 block of River Road. Salazar-Cerdas has a scheduled March court date.

On March 2 at 3:15 p.m., police were called to an accident on River Road. A vehicle driven by Salazar-Cerdas was traveling east on River Road when she crossed over the center lines and stuck a vehicle heading westbound.

A passenger in Salazar-Cerdas’s vehicle, injured in the accident, had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Chatham Township Fire Department.  The passenger and both drivers were transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by the Chatham Emergency Squad for treatment non-life threatening injuries.
