WESTFIELD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — An accident on Lamberts Mill Road Tuesday night occurred when a white Hyundai traveling south on Lamberts Mill Road crossed into the northbound lane and struck another vehicle, according to Captain Scott Rodger of the Westfield Police Department. The Hyundai then traveled 300 yards south on Lamberts Mill Road and struck a utility pole and a retaining wall in front of a house at 1782 Lamberts Mill Road before flipping over onto the driver’s side and coming to a stop in that home’s front yard.
Westfield police got the call at 8:14 p.m. The driver of the Hyundai, a woman from Westfield, was not severely injured, according to Rodger. She was extricated by the Scotch Plains Fire Department and transported by the Scotch Plains rescue squad to Overlook Medical Center. She has been charged with careless driving.
The road remained closed for about an hour after the accident, according to residents. PSE&G was later seen replacing the utility pole.
