WESTFIELD, NJ — The driver of a Toyota Rav4 was injured Wednesday morning after her SUV was struck by a car and overturned. She was alert and conscious at the scene and was taken to University Hospital, according to Captain Scott Rodger of the Westfield Police. There were no passengers.

The accident occurred at about 9:23 a.m. The SUV was traveling west through the intersection of Grove and Boulevard when it was struck by a BMW 5 Series heading south. The driver of the BMW told police he had stopped at the stop sign, did not see the Rav4 and proceeded forward. That driver was uninjured.

The SUV, hit low by the smaller car, struck the curb and turned over onto its roof, landing on a lawn on Boulevard.

The driver of the BMW was issued a summons for failure to stop and yield at a stop sign, according to Rodger.
