DWI Arrest Made on Main Street; Suspected of Hitting Utility Pole in Millburn

CHATHAM, NJ - Melissa Elias, 58, of Madison was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, and also charged with reckless driving and driving an unsafe vehicle after being stopped on Main Street.

On Jan. 10 at 2:37 a.m., Sergeant Richard Jaremba was on patrol when he observed a car traveling west on Main Street with a front flat tire and the front fender flapping in the wind.

Jaremba stopped the car and made contact with the driver. Elias thought she might have struck something in the area of Route 24. Eventually, the Millburn Police Department reported finding a struck utility pole near the Chatham border with paint transfer matching the color of the Elias vehicle.
