NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- Many residents of North Plainfield's east side woke up Sunday morning without the benefit of their alarm clocks as the power went out around 6:15 a.m. PSE&G has been notified, and reports that they will come out some time before 11 a.m. to look into the issue.
Power to the area was returned to some customers at about 6:55 a.m. PSE&G is not reporting either the cause or the solution to the issue, giving only automated answers through their phone system.
Outages were reported on Sandford, Mountain and North Avenue. The traffic light at the intersection of North Drive and Mountain Avenue was not working at 6:50 a.m. Some automated generators have kicked on, while homes within three blocks of the Plainfield border appear to still have power.
North Plainfield Police say that they will have patrol cars in the area to ensure safety.
TAP Into North Plainfield will provide updates as more information is available.
