EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Whn being pulled over for a number of violations, a young unlicensed driver now faces several serious charges including some weapons offenses.

On July 2, 2018 at 10:56 pm, Patrolman Matthew Kole stopped a vehicle for multiple motor vehicle violations in the area of Route 18 and Tices Lane.  Upon speaking with the male driver, a 17-year-old resident of Franklin who was unlicensed,  Patrolman Kole detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.  Subsequent investigation revealed the male juvenile was in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and a quantity of marijuana. Further investigation revealed the handgun had been reported stolen from Georgia.

The juvenile was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a Firearm While Committing a Controlled Dangerous Offense, Possession of a High Capacity Magazine, Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition, Possession of Stolen Property (Handgun) and, Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams.

 The juvenile was lodged into Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center in North Brunswick.
