EAST ORANGE, NJ - It seems like only yesterday, but for the last ten (10) years, the City, lead by 3rd Ward Council members has hosted the highly acclaimed Summer (House Music) Jam iMusic Festival n Elmwood Park. This outdoor music event and family gathering draws crowds from all over Essex and Union Counties, New York City and even Philadelphia. It has clearly become the flagship event in the City’s summer lineup of activities.
This year’s event was particularly special because former host and 3rd Ward Councilman Ted R. Green is now Mayor Green. Prior to the event, the question on the minds of many was whether Mayor Green going to participate in the same way he did when he was City Councilman. But this past Saturday the Mayor answered that question by manning the DJ duties as he has been known to do over the years and spinning some ‘hot’ House Music tunes to the delight of the throng of music enthusiast, young families and party goers.
Local resident and event participant Mark Cheatam remarked that this year’s Summer Jam was one of the best. He especially liked the inclusion of all the new venders. Beyond the music, family activities, food and fun, Cheatam mentioned that he was delighted that there were no reports of unruly behavior or incidents that could dampen the spirit of the day.
