East Orange Church Hosts FREE Market for Community

July 29, 2014 at 11:29 PM

EAST ORANGE, NJ – As part of the church’s mission and community outreach initiatives, New Hope Baptist Church of East Orange is hosting a FREE Market for the community.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the church, located at 144 Norman Street in East Orange.

It is no surprise that the current economic conditions have more people turning to different places for help, even to churches.  “We continue to see an increase in the number of people from the community who are seeking spiritual guidance and as well as certain, basic items of necessity, explained Rev. Dwight D. Gill, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church of East Orange.

Historically, churches have always been a vital part of the community serving as resource centers and safe havens at hard times.  “Our church is viewed by some as a pillar of the community.  As such, this event is a perfect opportunity to engage the community and show them that we are more than a place of worship, but a community church that cares about thy neighbor,” said Rev. Gill.

The event features gently used items from household décor to small appliances; to children/adult clothing to toys and games as well as dishes and puzzles.  All are welcome.
