EAST ORANGE, NJ – Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, Jr. was honored recently by East Orange General Hospital at its annual “Ball of the Oranges.” The black-tie fund raising event, organized by the hospital’s Foundation, attracted more the 300 people to the Newark Club on May 2. Proceeds from the evening will be used to support vital patient programs, including community health programs.

DiVincenzo was recognized for his years of dedicated public service, and his numerous contributions to the hospitals and healthcare needs of Essex County residents. Said East Orange President and CEO Kevin Slavin, “Joe DiVincenzo’s  voice has been heard throughout the county for more than a dozen years in support of all its hospitals, whether it be to secure funding, advance community projects, or  to join with facilities like ours in speaking up for our most vulnerable citizens.”

Slavin and Foundation Board Chairman Todd Brower presented DiVincenzo with a framed photo honoring his leadership in adding new picnic and recreation facilities to the county’s South Mountain Reservation’s Orange Reservoir. DiVincenzo also received a $2,500 donation from the hospital to be used for the county’s youth summer sports programs.

Now in its eighth year, East Orange General’s Foundation has used the “Ball of the Oranges” and other events to raise more than $960,000 in direct program support back to the hospital.
