Shelter from the Streets

The Book Bank Foundation’s “Shelter from the Streets” campaign seeks to provide new clothing, medication, shoes, books and words of inspiration for the less fortunate throughout the streets of New York City. Annually the organization goes through the five boroughs, into shelters, into train stations, under bridges and bus stations to serve the underserved; each year collecting donations of new products for the homeless, for children as well as those who have been subject to domestic violence.

Book Bank Foundation

In 1997, Dr. Glenn “Sweety G” Toby founded the Book Bank Foundation in an effort to boost literacy among the nation’s youth - with a specific emphasis on inner city children. Providing tutoring, alternative education, career development and special projects such as celebrity readings, the Book Bank Foundation aims to improve the quality of education and life. In addition, the foundation’s leadership works relentlessly to collect and distribute clothing, food and toys for the homeless, and has partnered with the DHS Office of Special Events to help homeless New York City children in the past.

The Book Bank Foundation is a certified 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible.
