EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The owner of a vehicle parked on Oak Street confronted two young males who broke into his truck and fled before they were captured by the East Brunswick Police Department early this morning.

On February 12, 2019 at approximately 1am, East Brunswick Police patrol units responded to the area of Oak Street on a report of two suspects who had been observed breaking into a pickup truck.  

The owner of the pickup truck confronted the suspects, who fled the area on foot after struggling with the owner.  Descriptions of the suspects were broadcast to responding units, who apprehended the suspects at short time later near Old Matawan Road and Emerson St. 

The suspects, Damien Ruiz, 19, of East Brunswick, NJ and a 17 year old juvenile were charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Simple Assault and Conspiracy.  Ruiz was lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center while the juvenile was released to a guardian.
