EDISON, NJ - The Edison Police Department's Junior Police Academy recently graduated its second and final class for the summer of 2014 last Friday.

2014 marked the 16th year for the Junior Police Academy in Edison, which is one of the longest running and largest junior academies in New Jersey.

This summer alone, over 130 middle-school age children went through the program.

The Edison Police Department conducted the Junior Police Academy in two separate sessions held on Aug. 4-8 and Aug. 11-15, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The academy was open to all Edison middle school students who are entering sixth, seventh or eighth grade as of this coming September.

During each five-day session, the academy participants experienced the following activities: Mock Car Chase and Felony Stop, DEA Presentation, NJTPD K-9 Demo, NJSP Helicopter Landing, Edison Fire Department "Jaws of Life" Demo, DWI Education, NJ State Police Boat Trip to NY Harbor, Dodge ball and much, much more.
