WEST ORANGE, NJ - When Edison Middle School in West Orange celebrated "Pi Day" on March 24, gleeful students were able to create "pi's" on the tops of their teachers' heads. While a good time was had by all, the event also raised money earmarked for the Holy Trinity-West Orange Food Pantry, located around the corner from the school.
Math teacher Eric Mains, along with students in his Math Club, organized the Pi events for the week and sold chances to the students for $1.00 to build the pies on the heads of their teachers. At the end of the week winners were announced and they were able to build apple pies during Edison's lunch periods.
$250.00 was raised to donate to the food pantry, which was given on Friday, May 9 to the Food Pantry Administrator by Mr. Mains and his team.
