EDISON, NJ - On with the show. The Edison Board of Education has offered a Summer Enrichment program for resident students entering grades 3 thru 8 for 20 plus years. Hosted at JP Stevens, Edison High School, and James Adams Middles School, the children enjoy a variety of classes covering topics as Theatre, Reading, Math and Arts & Crafts classes.
The Theatre program has been a wonderful experience for many. Here they can continue to hone their skills and put on a show for their parents and other campers at the completion of the program (4 weeks) Students from Edison have gone on to other extracurricular activities in theatre including “Plays in the Park” and other community theatre groups.
“The summer enrichment program is a budget friendly 1/2 day place to enable your children to learn a new skill or work on one they have a passion for, “Jennifer Wilner. “The Theater programs have given Alexis the opportunity to practice her skills as an actor and have a great time with it for 4 weeks.”
Jennifer Carloni, has been a teacher in Edison Township for 11 years. She has recently completed her 12th year as the teacher of the Creative Dramatics I and II classes, as well as the Costume and Scenery Design class, now in its second year. Currently there are 10 to 30 children in each class.
"Miss Carloni gives everyone a great experience to have over the summer. She makes it challenging yet fun which is great for all newcomers and those you have been there before. Her teaching technique gives everyone a amazing opportunity to do well in the play,” said Alexis Wilner, 4th year in the Creative Dramatics program
This week, the students of the Creative Dramatics I and II classes put on multiple shows for the camp students and their parents to enjoy. Including: Rumplestilskin , Stella and The King, A trip to the beach, Strictly Fairytale Come Dancing, and A Fairytale Adventure
