On Saturday, December 7th Edison Township will be holding its 30th Annual tree lighting, and its first annual holiday stroll on Amboy Avenue. The stroll hours will be between 2:00 and 4:45 PM; tree lighting will begin at 5:00 PM. During the stroll, visitors can vote for the best store front display. Based on the information issued by the township, the celebrations will include “arrival of the Grinch and a surprise guest.” Additionally, “visitors can ride on a trackless train, catch a seal from the North Pole, take a picture in the Snow Globe, make a holiday craft, or have a cup of hot chocolate.” The event also includes arrival of Santa on a fire truck. Holiday sweater contest is another event that will add to the holiday cheer. According to the advisory, “Mayor Tom Lankey will light the tree outside the Heritage at Clara Barton at 1015 Amboy Avenue.” Edison's middle and high school ensembles will perform at the tree lighting ceremony. There is a $5 entrance fee for the event and all proceeds will go to the Hands of Hope food pantry.
