Egg Harbor Man Charged With DWI, Leaving Scene of Accident

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - An Egg Harbor man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident on East Main Street Aug. 5, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.

Joseph Brown, 22, was arrested for driving while intoxicated following the incident that occurred around 10:20 p.m. Brown was also issued summonses for reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, failure to report a crash, leaving the scene of a crash, being an uninsured motorist and driving while suspended.

Brown was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.

Bridgewater police made several other arrests for drug and alcohol charges throughout the first week of August, according to the reports.

  • Tamela Stewart, 47, of Newark, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash on Route 22 East at around 8:50 p.m. Aug. 3. Stewart was also issued a summons for refusal of a breath test before she was released pending a municipal court appearance.
  • Shanon Monroe, 37, of Staten Island, was arrested for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop, according to a police report, at about 12:50 a.m. Aug. 5. Monroe was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.
  • Sheryl Sarnicki, 22, of Edison, was arrested for shoplifting at about 2:40 p.m. Aug. 10 after she was allegedly found with razors she took from Wegman's, on Route 202 South. According to the police report, the value of the razors was approximately $260. Sarnicki was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.
