Elizabethtown Gas personnel are strategically situated throughout the service area, and are prepared to respond quickly to emergencies as they arise.
Due to the potential of flooding, particularly in coastal and low-lying areas, Elizabethtown Gas reminds customers of steps to take to ensure their safety around natural gas appliances.
· If natural gas appliances are under water, customers are advised not to operate their appliances until they have been inspected by a qualified plumber or heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professional to conduct a safety inspection. · If customers’ natural gas meters or appliances have been underwater, customers should report it to the Elizabethtown Gas Customer Care Center at 1-800-242-5830.
· If customers smell gas, immediately leave the affected area and call the Elizabethtown Gas 24-hour emergency response line, at 1-800-492-4009 from a safe location. Never try to identify the source of a leak. Elizabethtown Gas wants to ensure customers that their natural gas service will be restored in a prompt manner once flood water recedes and it is safe for Elizabethtown Gas personnel to enter homes or businesses.
