Elmwood Park Zoo's Sports Day to Feature Phanatic, Temple Football

In an effort to ensure all area children get the chance to enjoy the great outdoors, the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown will host its inaugural “No Child Left Inside” event this Saturday.

Slated to run from noon to 3 p.m., the zoo will work in a partnership with More FM radio station for its first ever “Sports Day” event. The Philadelphia Phillies Phanatic, along with the Temple football team will be the special guests for the day’s festivities.

“Get out, get active and enjoy the day filled with fun, sport-themed activities,” said a recent release from the zoo.

From noon to 2 p.m., the Temple University football players and cheerleaders will be on-hand with obstacle courses, training tips with the players and even an autograph session.

During the two hours, there will also be a satellite mini-station set up by 101.1 More FM radio station. The station will be playing music, awarding prizes and giveaways, and celebrating the active day.

Following the Temple teams’ appearance, the Phillie Phanatic will be in attendance from 2 to 3 p.m.

Those that truly get into the spirit of things can also expect some great discounts for admission to the zoo.

“Any guest who wears a sports jersey or presents a Temple student ID will receive a buy-one-get-one-free admission tickets,” said the zoo release.

If guests aim to take home a souvenir from the Elmwood Park Zoo’s Nature Shop, can find a way to save even more. By lending a helping hand, visitors can get a discount at the shop.

“Donate an unused children’s book to the Lundy Law Library Express Book Drive and receive 20 percent off,” said the zoo release.
