In an evening that allows area residents to enjoy the arts, support the community and partake in fine foods and beverages, the Education Foundation of the Methacton Community (EFMC) will host an “Arts, Corks and Forks” event on Monday, April 7 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The EFMC is a nonprofit organization that works closely with the Methacton School District, explained Janeen Marzewski, district liaison for the organization.
“EFMC is here to serve the students and the school district,” said Marewski. “Our focus is on the arts and academics. We do programs to support that.”
Some examples of the work of the EFMC include the grants written and supported by the teachers within the district.
“Teachers apply for grants, and we look at that,” said Marzewski.
Additional work is done by the organization with area businesses in the Lower Providence Township vicinity.
“We work with the tax credits program with area businesses,” she said. “Ambler Savings Bank, for one, gave $10,000 for the mobile environmental, and we’ve previously been given funding for the mini iPads and the planetarium.”
No matter the method, the nonprofit aims to enrich students’ lives, and it does so completely with volunteers. Marzewski said that, though she is a salary-paid coordinator of district services, and one of her roles is to work as liaison with EFMC. Besides this single employee, all other goals are met through the work of volunteers.
To raise funds for the efforts of the organization, the Art, Corks and Forks event will run on April 7. The event will be held at Chadwick's Restaurant & Bar, on the Shannondell property, 2750 Egypt Road.
The cost in advance is $40 per person or two for $70. Those buying six or more tickets can purchase a group rate of $30 per ticket. The cost at the door will be $50.
At the event, the work of the EFMC's students, alumni and staff will be on display.
“It will primarily be the work of our high school students, alumni and professional artists,” said Marzewski. “It will be available for purchase and we’ll have auctions, depending on the quality of the art.”
There will be wine and beer tastings, as well as food samplings from various restaurants in the area including Bertucci’s, Champps, Spice Kitchen, Mango Tree, Chick-fil-A, Zwahlen’s, Olive Garden, Starbucks, and P.F. Changs. Proceeds for the event will go toward the Enrichment Through EFMC.
Additionally, school district staff will perform during the evening’s events with singer, pianists and a guitarist, as well as songs by the Methacton Brass.
For more information on the event, call 610-489-5000, ext. 15034 or visit the EFMC website here. Tickets can be purchased on the website. You may also stop by the EFMC office at the administration building, 1001 Kriebel Mill Road, Eagleville.
