WESTFIELD, NJ — Women from Westfield, Scotch Plains, Fanwood and other local and not-so-local towns gathered at NJ Moms Guide on Elmer Street Oct. 17 for the first meeting of the women’s entrepreneurial group B.I.G. in Westfield.
B.I.G. (which stands for believe, inspire, grow) is a rapidly growing business support, education and networking organization for women with over 1,500 members who meet to share their business ideas and build upon their professional dreams.
Founder Tara Gilvar was there to tell the story of the first B.I.G. meeting, held in her living room in Bernardsville in 2009. More than networking, she said, “We’re here to build each other up.”
Attendees took turns telling the group about their experiences and entrepreneurial dreams.
“I’m just thrilled that we could bring this to Westfield and surrounding areas,” said Westfield Pod Leader and Founder of WellGrounded Life Lisa Byrne. “It was amazing to listen to a room full of women talk about their passions and interests and taking themselves seriously and taking the next step toward that.”
Westfield B.I.G. meetings will take place the first Tuesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at NJ Moms Guide. Members may attend any B.I.G. meeting in any town. The cost to join is $199 per year.
