Essex Fells Police Make Arrest in Home Break-In Monday

ESSEX FELLS, NJ - Monday morning at about 10:32 a.m., Essex Fells Police responded to an Arden Lane home after a resident alerted police that they heard the sound of glass breaking coming from their downstairs floor
Essex Fells Police Chief Vincent Kulik detailed that the responding officers found a broken window in the kitchen and searched  the interior of the residence.

Roseland Police Department arrived and assisted at the scene as well. According to Kulik, officers found a 51 year old female hiding in a closet of the master bedroom.

"The suspect, Anna Maurer of Cranford, was charged with two counts of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and drug charges for possessing prescription drugs," commented Kulik." 

The Essex County K-9 unit was brought in to assist in locating a second suspect. 
According to a witness, the dogs and police searched the area of Fells Road, Welsh Road and Beechtree Lane. The dogs were able to confirm the presence of a second suspect who fled the scene.  

Essex Fells Police were assisted by officers from Fairfield, North Caldwell, Roseland and the Essex County Sheriff's Department.

The matter remains under 
investigation and as of now the second suspect remains at large. At this time, police have not released the second suspect's description.
