NEWARK, NJ - The Essex Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns, in partnership with the Essex County Bar Foundation, will hold a bullying awareness seminar on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m in the auditorium of Science Park High School, at 260 Norfolk St., in Newark. This informational seminar is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. A Spanish interpreter will be available.
The vicinage has organized the seminar to provide information about bullying to students, families, and other community members. Topics will include: the signs, types, and consequences of bullying, as well as community resources and services. A question and answer period will take place following the seminar.
Representatives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Essex County Public Defender’s Office, ASPIRA, Inc. of New Jersey, and the Judiciary will conduct the seminar. Essex County Bar Association President Thomas Quinn and Kean University doctoral student Barbara Prempeh will also participate. In addition, the New Jersey Mental Health Players will provide an interactive dramatization of real-life bullying scenarios.
