FAIR LAWN, NJ - Senior Patrol Leader Brendan Perry of Boy Scout Troop 53 executed his Eagle Project at Fair Lawn Fire Company #4.
To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America, a scout must organize and execute a service project that benefits the community.
Fire Company #4 is located at 14-15 Radburn Rd. It is an all-volunteer fire company that services Fair Lawn and the surrounding area.
The service project, completed on Sept. 9, that benefited the fire company was multifaceted. It involved painting a pre-existing shed, staining the fire station’s fence, adding sand and staining the horseshoe game squares in the back parking lot, and laying down mulch around the fire house. Everyone was provided proper PPE to safely carry out the project (masks, gloves, etc.).
Additionally, the Troop assembled a bench for the fire company. The bench shall be displayed on Fair Lawn Fire Company #4’s property.
Troop 53 was founded in 1935 and is chartered with the Grange Hall at 29-20 Fair Lawn Ave, Fair Lawn, NJ. Ordinarily, the troop meets on Mondays at 7:15pm in the Grange Hall. However, the troop shall be meeting at the Pavilion area of Memorial Park instead in order to better observe social distancing and pandemic health precautions.
