March brings a busy schedule for the community from the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel (FLJC/CBI).

Organized by the FLJC/CBI Sisterhood, the 8th Annual Purim Fun Run 5K kicks off at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center, Congregation B’nai Israel, 10-10 Norma Avenue on Sunday morning, March 1 at 10:00am. The Purim themed Fun Run is a chip -timed, USATF certified race to raise money for the Tikvah Program of Camp Ramah.

Participants are encouraged to come in costume. Fees are $25 in advance and $30 day of the race. The Fair Lawn Jewish Center Sisterhood will present T-shirts for first 125 entrants.  Prizes will awarded to the top three male and female winners and age groups.

Rabbi Dena Shargel is holding a Tot Sing and Play on Sunday, March 1 and on Sunday, March 8 at 9:10am for youngsters aged newborn to 5 along with parents or caregivers. Led by Rabbi Shargel, a long-time children’s music educator, the class engages tots with child-friendly instruments, puppets and props.

The Purim Celebration continues with the annual Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 8 from 10:30am – 1:00pm.

Sponsored by the FLJC/CBI Sisterhood and Men’s Profess Club, the carnival features entertainment for all ages, engaging arts and crafts projects, a goldfish tank, a face painting artist, and games and chance. Delicious refreshments will be available for purchase.
