Fairfield Fire Fighters Extinguish Box Truck Fire Friday Night

FAIRFIELD, NJ - Friday night the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department were quick to the scene of a box car fire at 82 Fairfield Road.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Tim Connolly, the firefighters were dispatched to the scene at about 9:27 p.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle.

Engine 1 gained access to the rear of the truck to find fire in the upper corner,” explained Connolly. “The battery was secured and the fire was extinguished. An investigation confirmed that a short in the rear electrical system caused the fire and the truck was turned over to the owner.”

By 10:40 p.m. the fire department had cleared the scene.
