SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The calendar says fall even if the temperature doesn't agree. Bagged leaf collections will begin in the borough on Monday, October 29 and continue through Friday, December 21. Leaves must be placed between the curb and the sidewalk in biodegradable paper bags. The Department of Public Works asks that residents don't put leaf bags in the street along the curb since this could restrict the flow of storm water in the event of heavy rain.
Residents can pick up biodegradable leaf bags at the borough's public works facility on Third Street Mondays through Friday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. while supplies last. Bags will only be available for pickup on Saturdays in November. Leaf bags are free, but will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Leaf bags should not be used for other yard waste. After Monday, October 22, grass will begin being collected on regular collection days. Brush and bulk pickup collections are available twice a month and can be scheduled by calling 732-416-1829.
