Fanwood Calls for Generators, Downtown returns to Almost Normal

November 8, 2012 at 12:47 PM

FANWOOD, NJ – While parts of Fanwood has been restored, there are still pockets of people without power 11 days after Hurricane Sandy hit.

Calls to PSE&G have provided information that this is because of extensive damage done by the storm to one circuit feeding these homes. “This circuit feeds parts of Fanwood, Scotch Plains and even down to Edison,” said Mayor Mahr.

“In an effort to help our residents cope while PSE&G works to restore their power, we are asking anyone who would like to LEND A PORTABLE GENERATOR TO A FELLOW FANWOODIAN to call Borough Hall at 908-322-8236, ext. 121 or 123. It would be a huge help to our neighbors without power,” said Mayor Mahr.

On a happier note, the majority of downtown Fanwood is back to “business as usual” now that the power is back on.  “We finally got power last night,” said Frank, owner of Frank’s Auto Body and Repair on Marine.
