FANWOOD, NJ -- The Fanwood Council honored one of its own at its April 15 meeting when former Councilman Bob McCarthy received a proclamation for his longstanding support for the Borough’s Earth Day activities and commitment to protecting the environment.

Mayor Colleen Mahr took the opportunity to highlight 30th anniversary of what is now called Clean Communities Day at which volunteers will collecting trash and litter across the Borough. Mr. McCarthy praised Fanwood as one of the first towns in New Jersey to make such a commitment to the environment.

Fanwood will help take care of the environment at the 30th annual Clean Communities Day on Saturday, April 27, 8:30 a.m., at the South Side Train Station.
