Fanwood Council Pays Tribute to Late Borough Engineer Dominic Carrino

FANWOOD, NJ - Mayor Colleen Mahr paid tribute to Fanwood Borough engineer Dominic Carrino, who died of cancer over the weekend at age 67. Carrino was a well-liked, low-key career civil engineer involved with every major construction project in Fanwood over the past six years.

Mahr and the Borough Council named Willie Green Volunteer of the Month. Green is a member of the Fanwood Recreation Commission. Most of Fanwood's commissions and boards are made up of volunteers.

Mahr and Councilman Kevin Boris presented a resolution for Fire Prevention Week, this year emphasizing prevention of kitchen fires. Present to receive the resolution were Fanwood Fire Chief John Piccola and Assistant Chiefs Dave Zawodniak and Steve Szanto (left to right).

Finally, Mahr pointed out that Fanwood was named the No. 3 town in New Jersey for raising a young family in a survey by NJ Monthly magazine. The mayor cited census figures that show more than 50 percent of Fanwood homes have children under 18, and acknowledged the borough's wide variety of recreation programs and other family-friendly features.
