FANWOOD, NJ - Police have charged 53-year-old Richard Kovach with aggravated assault and weapons offenses, false imprisonment, and making terroristic threats in connection with a stabbing incident at a North Ave. home in Fanwood on Friday night.
Kovach was released from University Hospital in Newark earlier today and currently is being held on $250,000 bail at a Union County facility, according to Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo.
The unidentified woman, who was transported by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment of stab wounds, was released this morning.
Police responded to a 911 call from a residence on North Ave. on Friday night at 6:33 p.m. The officer found the injured woman in the driveway bleeding from numerous wounds.
"This was an isolated incident, not a random attack,” said Chief Richard Trigo in a phone interview with The Alternative Press. "The two people involved knew each other."
