FANWOOD, NJ - Police are investigating the case of a Fanwood man who was seriously injured by a train just east of the Fanwood Train Station on New Year's night.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., the 23-year-old man was found on the tracks after an NJ Transit engineer spotted him and alerted borough police.
"The engineer on a passing NJ Transit train saw a body near the side of the tracks and contacted Fanwood police," said Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo told The Alternative Press. "He was still alive, but severely injured."
The victim was transported to Forest Road Park and airlifted by state police medevac to UMDNJ Hospital in Newark, where he remained on Thursday afternoon.
