The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Level 9 Gymnastics team took 2nd Place at the 2011 YMCA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship meet on Sunday, June 12th. Three gymnasts represented the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA in the Level 9 competition. In addition to the team title, Zoe-Nicole Stein was awarded 5th Place on Vault and 6th Place on the Uneven Bars.  Kacie Bumiller earned 4th Place on Vault.  Sarah Robinson rounded out the Level 9 contingent.

Competing in the Level 8 competition at the Regional Championships in the 17 and over age group, graduating senior Olivia Dunham placed 4th on Vault. Teammate Lisa Matrale placed 6th on Vault.  Kaitlyn Frey also competed in the 17 and over age group.  Marissa DiBella won the 1st Place honors on Vault in the 15-16 year old age group.  In the same age group, 4th Place on Vault was awarded to Heather Mullen.  In the 14 and under age group, Sydne Powers earned 4th place on Vault.  Cara Provenzano captured 5th place on Vault, and Abbie Fontana received 6th place on Vault.

Registration is going on now for the Summer Session as well as for Summer Gymnastic for preschoolers, kindergartners, school aged and competitive gymnasts throughout the summer and a one week Cheerleading Camps.  Special summer classes include a performance class, featuring Peter Pan; Just Floor;Bars Bonanza and evening preschool classes.  For more information on Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA’s Gymnastic and Cheerleading programs, please call (908) 889-8880.
