FANWOOD, NJ -- Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr will host a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, April 2, to discuss the upcoming Revaluation Program that will be underway in the Borough.
Fanwood is one of 14 Union County towns, like Westfield and Garwood, and 32 towns in NJ that were identified as in need of updated property valuations. Fanwood was last revaluated 32 years ago.
A revaluation of residential and commercial property is done to appraise property to determine its full and fair value and be more in line with market values. Typically, a revaluation will result in an increase of property assessment (value) but not necessarily an increase in property taxes.
“I encourage Fanwood residents to attend the meeting and ask questions about the purpose of revaluation and the process,” said Mayor Mahr. "Township officials and a representative from Realty Appraisal Company will explain the process and be available to answer questions."
The Town Hall will be held at the Forest Road Park building at 7:00 p.m.
