Fanwood Woman Stabbed at North Ave. Residence, Flown to RWJ University Hospital by Helicopter


FANWOOD, NJ - Fanwood police are investigating a stabbing at a home on North Avenue near the corner of Hunter Avenue, where a female victim suffered numerous puncture wounds.  

She was transported by police helicopter, which took off from Forest Road Park, and brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment. No details on her condition are available at this time.

At 6:33 p.m., Fanwood police responded to a 911 call from a residence on North Avenue. The first responding officer located the injured female in her driveway. A witness provided a description of a person known to the victim, and the officer observed him running down North Avenue. The man was located on the railroad tracks and taken into custody. He also suffered serious puncture wounds and has been transported to University Hospital Newark.

“The two people involved in the incident knew each other,” said Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo.  

Police are currently processing the scene with help from the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Fanwood Fire Department, which is lighting the scene. It is an active and ongoing investigation.
