CHATHAM, NJ - Jordan Fields scored a game-high 27 points in powering Columbia to a 59-48 girls basketball victory over Chatham on Saturday in the Cougar Classic.
Field, who hit five 3-pointers, also had six rebounds and two steals for Columbia (3-1). Cassandra Falone led Chatham (2-2) with 20 points.
"I think they outplayed us," Chatham coach Joe Gaba said. "They competed harder than we did. If there ever was a game where they wanted it more than the other team, it certainly was Columbia tonight. A game like this is certainly not going to hurt us. We have to grow from this. Our conference schedule is brutal, so I'm hoping these types of games will be a turning point for us. We have to be ready from the get-go. It's been one of the hardest things for us to do."
